9th INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE „SOCIAL SECURITY SYSTEMS IN THE LIGHT OF DEMOGRAPHIC, ECONOMIC AND TECHNOLOGICAL CHALLENGES”

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,

We would like to sincerely thank you for participating in the 9th International Scientific Conference “Social Security Systems in the Face of Demographic, Economic and Technological Challenges”. Judging from the positive feedback received from the participants, MKE 2026 was a great success that we achieved together! The success of a conference is determined above all by its participants, although, of course, the organizers strive to create appropriate conditions for presenting the latest research findings and to provide a forum for discussion. On behalf of the Organizing Committee, please allow me to express our gratitude to the keynote speakers, all conference participants, as well as the staff of our University who supported the conference in organizational and technical matters.

Once again, we would like to thank the conference’s main partner and patron, PZU Inwestycje, as well as the conference’s honorary patrons: the President of the Social Insurance Institution (ZUS), the Financial Ombudsman, the Polish Economic Society, and – last but not least – the Rector of Poznan University of Technology, Prof. Teofil Jesionowski, DSc, PhD, who kindly agreed to serve as the honorary patron of our conference.

Our conference, traditionally organized every two years at the Faculty of Engineering Management of Poznan University of Technology, once again brought together a group of leading researchers in the fields of pension economics, social and commercial insurance, as well as other academic disciplines, including economics and finance and demography, from Poland and abroad (the latter participating mainly remotely this time). The academic perspective was complemented by knowledge and experience from the financial market. This made it possible to identify the most important challenges and risks facing social security systems, not only in Poland, in the context of the demographic ageing of the population and transformations in the labour market, as well as to propose a number of recommendations for practitioners and policymakers.

In response to questions raised by some of you during the conference, I would like to inform you that participants who paid the full conference fee including publication may still submit their proposed articles for publication by the extended deadline of 20 October this year. Articles should be sent to the following email address: andzelika.libertowska@put.poznan.pl. By the end of October this year, the Scientific Council of the conference will decide whether the submitted papers will be forwarded to one of the following journals: “Polityka Społeczna”, “Ubezpieczenia Społeczne: Teoria i Praktyka”, or the Poznan University of Technology Scientific Journals “Organization and Management”. Naturally, the submitted papers will be subject to the standard editorial and peer-review procedures of the respective journals.

In two years’ time, at the end of September 2028, we are planning to organize the 10th International Scientific Conference “Social Security Systems in the Face of Demographic, Economic and Technological Challenges”. We would already like to extend our warm invitation to you to join us for this jubilee edition.
